Who Needs a Cape’s Watermelon Cooler

Manageability – Do it, drink it, yes!

In 2003, renown American philosopher and outspoken political thinker Andre 3000 famously asked of the human condition “what’s cooler than being cool?” In the past, people theorized “ice cold!”, but I’d like to propose a new answer to this age-old question: “Who Needs a Cape’s Watermelon Cooler!”

But what makes this cooler, you may ask? The answer is simple – frozen balls of watermelon. These are so fruity and sweet you can pop them in your mouth and eat them alone. Just use a melon baller and freeze them for 15 minutes. What a refreshing treat to add to a cocktail with tasty vodka and melon liqueur (we used Midori). Oh, we also infused our own watermelon vodka starting with Tito’s. This is easy too, just slice up some melon and put it in a jar overnight with the desired amount of vodka. For us, the “desired amount” is “too much”. But altogether, these are cute, tasty, and perfect for summer.

When it’s 110 degrees outside in the hot hot sun, and you need to get refreshed and tipsy-ed at the same time, this is the cocktail for you. Or, as Dr. 3000 said in his famous dissertation Stankonia, “…alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright”.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Melon Liqueur (“A shot of Midori, perhaps?”)
  • 2 ozĀ Watermelon Vodka
  • Sprite
  • Ice
  • Watermelon Balls (frozen)

Instructions

  1. In a tall glass pour in some Melon Liqueur. IDK, like a couple shots?
  2. Place ice to cover liqueur
  3. Top ice with several watermelon balls
  4. Pour (gently so as not to mix into melon liqueur) in Watermelon Vodka
  5. Place ice to top of vodka
  6. Place watermelon balls on top of ice
  7. Top drink with Sprite and another layer of watermelon balls
  8. Maybe a watermelon slice on the rim? Hey, the world is your oyster.
