Hot Chocolate Ornaments

Manageability – Low-key difficult.

I know it’s only three days before Christmas, but you can ALWAYS use more ornaments for that tree. Real or fake, there’s room and you know it. Might I suggest these adorable hot chocolate ornaments? They’re really cute, and perfect for decoration, because I’m not sure how practical they are if you actually want hot chocolate.

To start, it was honestly harder to find clear plastic ornaments than I thought. I tried Target, but they only had glass, so I purchased some “do it yourself” kits. No big deal, I just threw out a tiny train set. Next time try Michaels. Second, you should know the top of these (where the hole is) is very narrow. It’s about the size of a dime. I literally had to shove the mini marshmallows through with my pinky. Because of that, if you ever expect to have hot chocolate from these, I think you’re out of luck. You’d need tweezers to get the marshmallows out.

So if you want hot cocoa, just go buy ingredients separately and hang these on the tree.

Ingredients

  • Hot cocoa, or “hot chocolate”
  • Chocolate chips, or “cocoa chips”
  • Caramel chews
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Smashed Candy Canes
  • White chocolate chips
  • Chocolate Chips
  • Plastic Bulb/ornament/clear ball on string

Instructions

  1. Remove the top of the plastic ornament and clear out the contents.
  2. Add powdered hot chocolate mix to the ornament. Fill a bit under half.
  3. Add the middle layer using crushed candy canes, chocolate chips, caramel bits, or Christmasy sprinkles.
  4. Top off with mini marshmallows.
  5. Put the top back on. If you intend to hang it from the tree, you can superglue the top.
