Cookie Rookie’s Love Potion #9 Martini

Manageability – Just plain easy and cute.

I love that this one calls itself “Love Potion #9” (by Cookie Rookie) because she makes it with dry ice. The illusion is that it’s some kind of witches brew, smoky with bubbling eye of newt and designed to cast a spell on the drinker, making them fall madly in love with whoever prepared it. In all honestly, you won’t need any witchcraftery to get the drinker to fall in love with you if you serve this one. Even without dry ice, this cocktail is easy, and absolutely delicious.

I personally did not use any dry ice. I honestly don’t even really know where to get some. A science lab? But otherwise, in terms of instructions, these are super easy. Just mix, shake, and pour. I also loved crafting the strawberry hearts, skewered and draped across the rim. So cute. I also found them to be delicious (even with SKYY vodka). They are sweet, tart, fruity, and flavorful. A refreshing and juicy martini, perfect to share with the eye of your affection. Just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Double double, toil and trouble, because I drank four of these.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pomegranate juice
  • 3 ounces strawberry vodka (I used strawberry SKYY, which I don’t very much care for. But it was a snowstorm, so I had to settle on what the liquor store had)
  • 3 ounces Chambord Black Raspberry Liqueur
  • 2 small chunks dry ice (optional, as though that’s easy to find)
  • 2 strawberries cut into hearts for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine the pomegranate juice, vodka, and Chambord. Shake to combine.
  2. Place 1 chunk dry ice into the bottom of each glass. If you have it.
  3. Pour the martini over a very small piece of dry ice. Again, if you have it.
  4. Garnish with skewered strawberry hearts if desired.
  5. Wait 5-10 minutes for the dry ice to dissolve before drinking. Otherwise you’ll burn your throat, probably.
