Better Homes and Gardens’ Chirping Chicks Easter Eggs

Martha!

Manageability – Pretty Simple Minus the Glue

For a change from the standard “dying eggs”, my husband and I decided to make these adorable chicks this year for Easter. Chirp chirp chirp!

The recipe was a breeze, but there’s always a few things to mention. First, the dye tablet for “yellow” starts out looking pretty brown. Don’t panic, it’s yellow. Also, as is the case with any project that includes glue, pick your (literal) poison wisely. We went with Krazy Glue, and I’m still sticking to various things around the house. And finally, the mouth is hard to keep in place. You need patience and a steady hand. My husband has neither.

Happy Easter, everyone!

Instructions

Dye eggs canary yellow, let dry, and glue a quill feather to the top. Cut out a beak from orange paper and glue it on. Use a marker to make two dots for eyes. Place your feathered friend in a piece of cracked eggshell set in a nest of raffia.
