Sweets and Treats’ Mickey Mouse Cupcakes

Manageability – Beautiful

Once again, it’s cupcakes to the rescue. A tasty, fun, cute dessert that look like it took you a long time to make, but really did not at all. These Mickey Mouse Cupcakes from Sweets and Treats are super easy and literally perfect.

This isn’t even really a recipe for cupcakes, per se. More like instructions on how to decorate them. You can use whatever cupcake recipe you like. It’s the idea for decoration that really steals the show here, and they are cute as a button. Buttercream is thick enough to hold chocolate candy melts for ears. We had a little trouble finding red liners, but if you have a Party City nearby you’ll be in luck. After that, just top it off with red/yellow/black Mouse House sprinkle mix, and your cupcakes are On. Theme.

I brought these as a compliment to the Vanilla Layer Mickey Cake for Tyson’s birthday. Everybody thought they took a long time to make, but NOPE. Shoot, you can even use box cake, and tell everybody you made them from scratch. And it will just be between you and god 😉

Instructions

BAKER’S TIP: To give our mouse ears a really nice matte look, you can spray them with a can of black food coloring spray and let them dry before placing them on the buttercream. This secret tips really makes the ears pop. You could use cut out fondant, regular and mini oreo cookies, and any other round chocolate cookie too. Hell, you can use black poker chips if you want.

  1. Using a large round tip squeeze a little blob of frosting onto the center of the cupcakes. Then ice a border around it.
  2. Gently roll the edges in sprinkles.
  3. Use a large open star tip to frost a nice ruffle on top, use a piping bag to do so and then add a few more sprinkles.
  4. Last, add Mickey’s ears!
  5. Eat with joy. It’s literally impossible to not smile at these cupcakes, man.
